Ellison Center Statement on the war in Ukraine
The Ellison Center condemns the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine as a violation of that country’s sovereignty as well as its flagrant disregard of international laws and norms. As an institution that embodies the principles of pluralism and evidence-based academic inquiry, the Center also condemns President Vladimir Putin’s blatantly self-serving distortions of Ukraine’s past and present. We stand with the Ukrainian people, along with those who act to advance the causes of democracy, rule of law, and human rights.
