Center for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (CEREAS)
About CEREAS
CEREAS, the University of Washington’s Center for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies, was launched in 2024 to unify the strengths of UW’s considerable academic talent across many schools and departments under one umbrella. CEREAS oversees several component centers, including the Center for European Studies (CES), the EU Jean Monnet Center of Excellence, and the Ellison Center for Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies (REECAS). CEREAS also presides over the European Studies program and the REECAS M.A. program in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies. In this, CEREAS builds upon over 70 combined years of academic programming in order to chart a new future for the study of Europe, Russia, and Eurasia at UW, cognizant of the many changes that have occurred since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the many challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the region.
