Teaching and Research Interests

The role of science in management and its use in preventing and mitigating adverse environmental effects of human activities. Pavia’s research interests include emerging risks in marine transportation due to climate change, the risks of marine oil spills in the Arctic, and strategies for communicating science during technological disasters.

Pavia teaches ARCTIC 391 (Climate Change – An International Perspective: Science, Art, and Activism), which counts towards the Arctic Studies minor.
