About

My name is Osvaldo Farias Garcia, I am currently a sophomore double majoring in Political Science and Spanish. I am from Pasco, Washington, a majority Latino city in Eastern Washington. Being a first generation American has allowed me to observe cultural differences from an early age. Growing up with distinct cultures and languages inside and outside of home gave me an interest in learning about cultures and languages. My desire to go on exchange to UBC sprang from my interest of spending time in British Columbia which is culturally similar to Washington and Vancouver which is similar to Seattle and looking into how these cultural similarities pan out in the political spectrum, this is something that appeals to both my political and diplomatic interests. I also plan to go to UBC to meet new people, learn about the school, get out of my comfort zone and being able to live in Vancouver, all while learning more about Canada and myself.

The Corbett British Columbia-Washington International Exchange Program Fund provides an opportunity for undergraduate students at the University of Washington to spend two semesters at the University of British Columbia or University of Victoria; and for students from the University of British Columbia and University of Victoria to spend three quarters at the University of Washington.
