About
Olivia Zittel (she/her) is a History major at UW with a focus in War and Society, and she is pursuing a minor in Arctic Studies. She is interested in researching how the militarization of the Arctic has affected Indigenous populations as well as the connections between the Arctic and the Middle East. Olivia is excited that FLAS makes it possible for her to continue studying Inuktitut. She has found the language extremely engaging and deeply connected to Inuit culture. With the language, she hopes to engage in conversations regarding how Inuktitut has adapted to changes in the Arctic and how militarization has changed the Arctic.
