Ian Scott Hanna

Ian joined the Coast Guard in 2002 and graduated from the Coast Guard Academy in 2007. He has been stationed in Kodiak, Alaska aboard the Cutter SPAR as a Deck Watch Officer and the Executive Officer, where he gained firsthand experience with issues in the Arctic region. Ian is currently studying at the School of Marine and Environmental affairs with a focus on Transportation Management and is interested in the future of marine transportation and safety in the Arctic region.

Research interests: Arctic marine transportation and safety policy, Resource exploitation, Sea ice predictability, and shipping routes.
