Cynthia Liu

About
My name is Cynthia Liu and I am honoured to be a 2020-2021 Corbett Scholar. I am a fourth-year student studying Natural Resources Conservation and Education at the University of British Columbia, Canada. I am passionate about environmental education and conservation policies. Throughout my interdisciplinary study and working in multicultural communities, I have gained an understanding of the importance of exchanging cultural and social elements and information with people from diverse backgrounds. Canada and the United States influence each other in natural resources research and management as well as education. I hope to expand my knowledge about the similarities and differences between Washington and British Columbia in the Corbett exchange program.
Having grown up in Vancouver, I often visit Washington States to explore its unique landscapes. However, I have limited knowledge of American culture and how it translates into environmental policy and management. Acknowledging the current climate crisis and social issues in Pacific Northwest, I am looking forward to gaining a throughout understanding of the conservation issues from new social perspectives through attending cross-border content workshops and interacting with students from the University of Washington!
