Cillian Mullen
About
My name is Cillian Mullen, and I am a junior Environmental Studies major and History and Arctic Studies double minor here at UW! I am also on the women’s rowing team, and the president of our Athlete Ally Chapter. I am interested in the Arctic as it pertains to public policy, specifically environmental policy and how we integrate western science with Indigenous knowledge systems to build the most equitable and environmentally just future possible. I find the political atmosphere around Indigenous cultural practices like sealing in Canada particularly interesting, and want to do work in areas of public policy that will help preserve the culture and livelihood of the Inuit people of Canada, along with Indigenous peoples across the Arctic as a whole. I look forward to utilizing my time in the Arctic Studies program at UW to broaden my scope of understanding how environmental policy needs to be shaped to ensure all groups of people have a sustainable and equitable path forward through our changing climate.
