About
Amaya Gatling is a Master of Public Health candidate in the School of Public Health’s Department of Global Health. She is also pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Global Health of Women, Adolescents, and Children (Global WACh). She obtained a dual Bachelor of Science in Global Health and Life Sciences Communication from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Amaya’s professional background in social marketing and health communication informs her interest in health literacy as a sexual and reproductive health promotion tool. She is passionate about the intersection of sexual and reproductive health, human rights, and social justice. In line with this, she is interested in studying Inuit perinatal health in Nunavik, Québec throughout her FLAS-French Canadian area studies. She looks forward to simultaneously continuing her French education and strives to reach a proficiency that will enable her to work in Francophone countries throughout her global health career.
