About

Alex Henry (they/them) is currently studying for a Ph.D. English at the University of Washington. Pacific Northwest born and raised, following a B.A. in English and Applied Linguistics at Portland State University, they now study early North American language contact, policy, and ideologies. Alex worked for years between the BA and graduate school in community-engaged research and believes strongly in community-based and participatory research. With the FLAS award, they plan on utilizing the Inuktitut language courses to gain a richer understanding of the Indigenous historical and linguistic worlds of the history and writings of Inuit peoples.
