About

Teaching and Research Interests:

I am a linguist, language activist, and Wakashanist. I document and teach Aboriginal American languages spoken on and around Vancouver Island, especially Nuuchahnulth, Ditidaht, Kwak’wala, and Makah. I work with Native people and communities to restore their languages. My technical research focuses on prosodic phonology, clisis, and Wakashan grammar. I am based in Somass (c̓uumaʕas Port Alberni, BC).
