Declare a Minor in Arctic Studies
Declare Your Minor in Arctic Studies!
To declare the Arctic Studies minor, meet with your major department advisor. Only the advisor in your major department may sign the form to declare a minor. Any undergraduate student with at least sophomore standing (45 credits completed) who is declared in a major may declare the Arctic Studies minor.
Requirements
A total of 25 credits are required to achieve the minor in Arctic Studies including:
- Tungasugit courses—both courses are required;
- Nunaat courses—at least two courses are required;
- Uggianaqtuq courses—at least one course is required.
- To make up the required 25 credits, students may repeat the ARCTIC 401; take additional courses from any of the course lists; or engage in an internship, practicum or study away experience.
A minimum of 15 credits must be at the 300 and/or 400 level and at least 60% of the courses applied to the Arctic minor must be outside a student’s major requirements. For grade minimums and other rules and regulations concerning a minor, see UW Minors here.
