An article on “Speaking of Sterilization: Rumors, the Urban Poor and the Public Sphere in Greater Mexico City,” HAHR 99:2 (2019), written by Vanessa Freije, assistant professor at the Jackson School, has been selected for The Rocky Mountain Council for Latin American Studies (RMCLAS) Article Award for the most outstanding article in a journal or chapter published in 2019 for her piece. Though a regional conference, RMCLAS has played an outsized role in the field of Latin American Studies for the last few decades.
