July 19, 2022

In conversation with Robert Bone, Professor Emeritus at the University of Saskatchewan, Erica Dingman and Bob discuss the benefits and costs for Canadian Inuit of warming Arctic waters. The conversation then shifts to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the implications to Arctic geopolitical dynamics, NORAD and NATO. This interview was recorded on May 24, 2022.

Until recently, Robert remained active as a teacher with the International Centre for Northern Governance and Development. He has authored numerous papers and books and is currently investigating demographic shifts in the Inuit population: focusing on spatial arrangements in Canada, growth rates and size since Statistics Canada first began recording Inuit in 1921.
