In this Q&A with UW Notebook, Jackson School Assistant Professor Vanessa Freije talks about her new book “Citizens of Scandal” that explores Mexican politics and journalism. “Citizens of Scandal” was published by Duke University Press in October 2020.
Freije has appeared in media as a commentator on Mexico’s elections and has published articles on information politics in Latin America. Her research has won awards from the Latin American Studies Association, the American Journalism Historians Association, and the Rocky Mountain Council on Latin American Studies. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in History from Duke University.
