Henry M. Jackson Professor of International Studies David Bachman is quoted in an article examining how relations in the Korean Peninsula may evolve after the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. He believes that while recent developments may have provided an opening for the two sides to prioritize conversation over military confrontation, the developments are unlikely to deter the United States from pushing for harsher sanctions on Pyongyang, North Korea.
