Hyeeun Seo

Hyeeun Seo is a Professor in the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Kyungpook National University, where she served as an Assistant Professor in 2014 and an Associate Professor in 2019. She specializes in classical Korean narrative literature, with a particular focus on classical novels. She earned her Ph.D. from Kyungpook National University in 2008, focusing on Gyeongpanbon (京板本) novels. Her research focuses on woodblock-printed novels published in late-Joseon Seoul, and she has studied collections in Paris, London, and St. Petersburg. She is also interested in novels performed as Pansori and Changgeuk (唱劇, Korean traditional opera). At the UW, she aims to investigate Korean classical literature preserved in U.S. East Asian libraries, hoping to contribute to its globalization.
