About

Brian is a historian of modern Korea and Japan. Broadly, he is interested in the history of Zainichi Koreans (ethnic Koreans residing in Japan), relations between the two Koreas and Japan, and history of capitalism in East Asia. His dissertation project investigates the role of Zainichi Korean businesses in South Korea’s economic development during the Park Chung Hee period (1963–1979).
