Joshua Bender

Joshua’s research focuses on the literary works of the Filipina/o diaspora. Particularly, Joshua is interested in the manifestations of trauma, memory, and mourning in Filipina/o and Filipina/o American diasporic fiction, and how we can utilize apparitions and spectrality to reckon with Spanish and American colonialism in the Philippines. His work hopes to envision Filipina/o futurities that simultaneously acknowledge, challenge, and resist dominant colonial narratives.
