Emily Nguyen

Emily is a second-generation Vietnamese-American who grew up in San Jose, California. She is currently a second year MPH (Master of Public Health) student in the Department of Global Health. Her thesis research focuses on perinatal mental health, specifically on sociocultural barriers to perinatal mental health screening for women in Cần Thơ, Vietnam. The FLAS fellowship for Vietnamese allows her to continue learning her heritage language, connecting with her Vietnamese identity, and equipping her to collaborate and better communicate with Vietnamese community partners and colleagues.
