Origins of Modern Japan

Course surveys Japan’s early modern age, from the end of the warring-states period in the late 1500s through the Meiji revolution and creation of a modern state in the late 1800s. Japan’s history since the early 20th century is continued in a second class, JSIS A 424/HSTAS 424.
