Silk Road and Globalization

Introduces the Silk Road as a site of cultural exchange between peoples, and of political, economic, and intellectual exchange between regions and continents. Topics include empires, migration, language, and religion. Considers the Silk Road as a symbol of globalization in the exploration of an underrepresented and culturally dynamic region, encouraging reflection on historic inequities as well as present-day inequalities and marginalities.
