Jackson School student and International Studies major is spending the semester abroad at Université Jean Moulin Lyon III, where she is deepening her studies in European Union and international law and immersing herself in French culture. In January, she joined a UW class from abroad to present her research on Inuit contemporary music to Nadine Fabbi’s ARCTIC 210 course, sparking discussion and sharing insights from her work in ARCTIC 410 and beyond.
Ruby Keller shared her experience with us below.
Hello! I am a student in the Jackson School, majoring in International Studies with a minor in French. Currently, I’m applying my knowledge and experiences at UW to my semester abroad at Université Jean Moulin Lyon III. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in French culture, improving my language skills, and diving into European Union and International Law through my coursework! In January, I found myself back in a UW classroom from across the Atlantic— I had the pleasure of presenting my work on Inuit contemporary music to Nadine Fabbi’s ARCTIC 210 class through Zoom. I was so happy to share about some of the great artists I explored last spring in ARCTIC 410, and that I hope to discuss in my ongoing work. It was an incredible experience to generate discussion about the topic with fellow UW students and get honest feedback from them.
