Satu Miettinen, Tarja Pääkkönen, and Kiwoong Nam, University of Lapland, Finland, joined the Center during winter and spring quarters.
Miettinen, Pääkkönen and Nam are part of a project “Empathy Business,” promoting new business opportunities for creative industries. The team has been working on developing a Proof of Concept that considers Chat GPT as a tool for developing customer empathy with designers.
In winter and spring quarters 2024, they were scholars-in-residence at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies. They conducted several workshops for the research project including with the Industrial Design program (with professor Sang-gyeun Ahn) and with the Human Centered Design and Engineering program (with Tyler Fox).
The research project also includes the work of Canadian designers. Our visiting scholars teamed up with the Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver, Canada working with associate professor of Interaction Design Manuhuia Barcham.
