The Canadian Studies Center is the only National Resource Center in the nation that awards Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships for the study of Inuktitut, the Inuit language spoken in Canada. The study of Inuktitut is critical to understanding northern policy and to the Canada–U.S. relationship. This photo album features two FLAS Fellows – Valerie Cleland, Marine and Environmental Affairs; and Malina Dumas, School of Law – studying with Mick Mallon, renowned Canadian linguist.
