Charlie Shih is a Master’s student in Culturally Sustaining Education affiliated with Taiwan Studies. She authored a set of children’s picture books as a part of a process of reconnection with her Pazeh (a Pingpu Indigenous (Plains Indigenous) language from central Taiwan) heritage and to contribute to revitalization efforts. The stories use home-based daily language vocabulary to tell stories using simple sentences in Pazeh with translations in Mandarin and English. They are intended to support families in Taiwan and in the diaspora to learn and practice the Pazeh language alongside their children and bring it back into their daily lives. yagira!

tasungusungaw di parin a xumak! Let’s Count in the Kitchen practices counting numbers 1-10 using items found in the kitchen.
tataləkaw nita ki ahuan! Let’s Make Dinner! is about Baliax, a little girl, who helps her dad make dinner to eat with her family.
mausay midəm lia! Time for Bed! is about Baliax, a little girl, as she gets ready for bed.
