A series of exhibitions, discussions, and guided tours brings together historical sites and stories connected to the 228 Incident across many places in Taiwan, including Taipei, Hsinchu, Yilan, Taichung, Nantou, Keelung, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Hualien, Penghu. These images, discussions, and texts guide visitors into events often reduced to a single conflict, but which unfolded as prolonged oppression across countless sites. Whether preserved, transformed, or erased, these locations and histories continue to hold those stories.
一系列的展覽、座談與導覽匯集了台北、新竹、宜蘭、台中、南投、基隆、嘉義、台南、高雄、花蓮、澎湖及其他地區與二二八事件相關的歷史場址與故事。影像、對談與文字帶著觀眾走進曾經被簡化為一次衝突，實際上卻是長期在臺灣各地發生的種種壓迫事件，無數生命的犧牲在臺灣各個場域刻下充滿血與淚的傷痕，這些場址與歷史無論被保存、改造或抹去，至今仍承載著那些不應被遺忘的故事。

【島內之外鏡行事：二二八遺址展】Seeing Beyond the Island: A Lens into the 228 Sites

The 228 Incident is often reduced to a single confrontation over illicit cigarette sales on the night of February 27, 1947, but the violence was rooted in long-standing political and social injustices that had already surfaced in earlier incidents under postwar administration. On February 28, soldiers opened fire on civilians, rapidly turning local unrest into island-wide resistance, followed by widespread arrests, executions, and military operations carried out under the name of “pacification.” Reinforcements arriving on March 8 intensified indiscriminate killings and ushered in a prolonged climate of terror. The violence left behind not only countless victims, but also a dispersed landscape of ordinary streets, buildings, and public spaces across Taiwan—sites that, whether preserved, transformed, or erased, continue to bear the traces of persecution and memory.
Building on this landscape of lived and remembered sites, Seeing Beyond the Island: A Lens into the 228 Sites brings together historical locations connected to the 228 Incident across Taipei, Hsinchu, Yilan, Taichung, Nantou, Keelung, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Hualien, Penghu, and other regions. Through images and texts, the exhibition situates these places within contemporary life, revealing their enduring ties to everyday surroundings and the histories embedded within them. By encountering these sites, visitors are invited to reconsider how they move through and understand the spaces around them, and to reimagine the meanings such spaces carry. Images and words serve here as vital vehicles of memory, and the exhibition seeks to encourage visitors to continue walking, witnessing, and passing on the stories that remain present on this island—and that must not be forgotten.
二二八事件常被簡化為1947年2月27日夜晚因查緝私菸引發的一次衝突，然而這場暴力的根源，實則深植於戰後統治初期早已浮現的政治與社會不公。2月28日，軍隊向平民開火，使原本的地方衝突迅速擴展為全島性的反抗，隨之而來的是大規模逮捕、處決，以及以「綏靖」之名展開的軍事行動。3月8日抵達的增援部隊進一步加劇了無差別的殺戮，並開啟了長期籠罩社會的恐怖氛圍。這場暴力不僅造成無數生命的犧牲，也在台灣各地留下分散於日常街道、建築與公共空間之中的歷史地景——這些場址無論被保存、改造或抹去，至今仍承載著迫害與記憶的痕跡。
以這些被生活經驗與集體記憶所銘刻的地景為基礎，《島內之外鏡行事 — 二二八遺址展》匯集了台北、新竹、宜蘭、台中、南投、基隆、嘉義、台南、高雄、花蓮、澎湖及其他地區與二二八事件相關的歷史場址。透過影像與文字的呈現，展覽將這些地點重新置入當代生活的脈絡之中，揭示其與日常環境之間持續存在的連結，以及深植其中的歷史層次。當觀者與這些場址相遇時，也被邀請重新思考自身如何行經並理解周遭空間，並重新想像這些空間所承載的意義。在此，影像與文字成為記憶的重要載體，而展覽也期盼鼓勵觀者持續行走、見證，並將這座島嶼上仍然存在、且不應被遺忘的故事傳承下去。

Reflecting on erased, silenced, and rediscovered histories, the lecture explores how collective memory is formed across generations and why confronting difficult pasts remains essential to democratic life. Through archival insight and personal stories, the speaker invites audiences to consider the ongoing work of remembrance, responsibility, and reconciliation in Taiwan today.

Led by Na Suphok (Lan Shih-po) and Chiu Tzu-chia of the Memorial Foundation of 228, this tour invites visitors to reflect on how memory is embedded in place—and why preserving these stories remains essential today.
本展覽聚焦台灣各地與二二八事件及其後續發展相關的歷史場址，透過影像與歷史脈絡的呈現，揭示日常街道與公共空間如何承載著層層交織的暴力、記憶與韌性。本次導覽將由二二八事件紀念基金會藍士博執行長與邱子嘉專員帶領，邀請觀眾思考記憶如何深植於空間之中，以及為何保存與傳承這些故事在當代仍至關重要。
