Taiwan Studies Presents at UW Converge in Taipei

December 10, 2019

The University of Washington Taiwan Studies department was honored to be showcased at the 2019 UW Converge Summit in Taipei, Taiwan. UW Converge is an annual international meeting of University of Washington alumni and friends from all over the word. This year’s summit began on November 9 with a theme on artificial intelligence, including lightning talks and following discussions on law, medicine, engineering, business and technologies that impact the globe.

This year, Assistant Professor James Lin and Professor Jeff Hou introduced the Taiwan Studies program to UW Alumni living in Taiwan and Asia. Lin and Hou gave a presentation on the UW Taiwan Studies program’s current events as well as its future plans to advance Taiwan Studies. Professor Lin also participated in the afternoon Law and Society panel and gave a presentation on how Taiwan innovates in its technology and manufacturing industries.

Participating in this year’s UW Converge produced many new conversations about Taiwan for our Taiwan alumni, and we are excited to bring back and share with the UW and Seattle communities. The UW Taiwan Studies program is committed to continue educating students, alumni, and the greater Seattle community about Taiwan, and we look forward to participating in future Converge and alumni events.
