This past February 12, visiting scholars Professor Jakyung Kwon (Gangneung-Wonju National University) and Mr. Lee (Ministry of Defense, South Korea) did a presentation about Seollal for students from the OneWorld Now! school here in Seattle. Seollal, which began on February 12, is the Korean Lunar New Year, and is a celebration which marks the first day of the Korean Lunar calender.
The CKS partnered with OneWorld Now! to introduce Korean culture to the students, and to also celebrate Seollal. Many of the students from OneWorld Now! are studying Korean, so it was a great opportunity for them to learn some Korean phrases used during Seollal and to ask our visiting scholars questions in Korean at the end of the presentations.
