Screening Queer Hong Kong: A Screening and Conversation with Kit Hung

Join the Department of Asian Languages & Literature, the Simpson Center for the Humanities, the UW China Studies Program, and the East Asia Center for “Screening Queer Hong Kong,” a screening of “Always My Child” (Hong Kong, 2011, 24 mins) and “Forever 17” (Hong Kong, 2019, 36 mins), followed by a Q&A with the director. A film director, producer, media artist, and educator based in Hong Kong and London, Kit Hung has made films and video works about LGBTQ+ people in Hong Kong and its diasporas, including “Soundless Wind Chime” (Hong Kong/China/Switzerland, 2009), “I Am Not What You Want” (Hong Kong, 2001), and “STOMA” (Hong Kong/Switzerland, 2020). Screened at over 160 international film festivals, his films have won numerous international awards. Kit Hung is currently a Yale-China Association Artist Fellow and a university lecturer of filmmaking at the University of Westminster.

The film screening is followed by a Q&A with the director moderated by Asian Languages and Literature professor Ungsan Kim.
