About

Caralee received her MAIS – Japan in 2023 from the UW Jackson School of International Studies, and BA degrees in International Affairs and Japanese Language and Culture from Marshall University. She has completed both a homestay in Fukuoka, Japan in high school as well as the Asian Studies program at Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka in 2019. While at UW, Caralee’s research related to gender and sexuality-based issues and their relationship to public policy in Japan. Caralee was the student assistant to the JSIS Japan Studies program for the 2022-23 academic year, as well as a Henry S. Tatsumi scholar and FLAS recipient for 2021-22 and 2022-23 respectively.
