Anna Minamoto
About
Anna is currently a student in the Japan studies M.A. program in the Jackson School of International Studies. She received her B.A. in History of War and Society from the University of Washington in 2022. She was a recipient of the Maurice D. and Lois M. Schwartz Scholarship for studies in non-western history, Ayako Betty Murakami Scholarship for Japan Studies and the JSIS Japan Studies Fellowship.
Anna’s research centers on Japan’s left-wing politics, with a focus of study on the legacy of the 1968-1969 university protests and occupations of Japanese universities by students and their effects on modern left-wing politics. Prior to becoming a student, she was a contributing writer to Shimbun Akahata and other politics-centered publications.
