On August 1, 2024 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan announced Jackson School Professor Emerita Marie Anchordoguy as a recipient of the 2024 Foreign Minister’s Commendations; Anchordoguy, whose work focuses on the political economy of Japan, was acknowledged for her 35-year academic career promoting the research of Japan in the United States. “The Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas,” according to the Foreign Ministry of Japan.
