Educator Programs

Educator workshop discussion

Center for Global Studies and JSIS educator workshops, seminars, and curricular materials connect the expertise of university faculty and K-12 master teachers to the classroom. These programs engage students and faculty through the regional and thematic lenses of International Studies, but teachers of humanities, social sciences, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects will find them valuable. CGS and JSIS programs are fundamentally interdisciplinary, blending elements of contemporary global issues, geography, government and civics, history, literature, religion, science, and world languages into a cohesive framework.

K-12 educators are able to earn Washington State OSPI clock hours at many of the workshops and seminars. The event calendar contains all upcoming JSIS events that may be of interest to elementary, middle and high school teachers, as well as community college instructors. Some of these events are open to the public, while others are designed specifically for teachers of certain subjects or grade levels and may require registration.
