John Simpson is Director of the Professional Fellows Program for Economic Empowerment in the Middle East and North Africa, a U.S. Department of State-funded initiative. The PFP program promotes mutual understanding, enhances leadership and professional skills, and builds sustainable partnerships between emerging leaders who are committed to strengthening their communities through social entrepreneurship and workforce development. Before joining the PFP program, John served as an English Language Fellow with the U.S. Department of State in Uzbekistan and Côte d’Ivoire, a William J. Clinton Fellow for Service in India with the American India Foundation, and a Senior Fellow at the Asian University for Women in Bangladesh. Originally from the Seattle area, John graduated from the EMIS program in 2017. He recently was awarded a Fulbright Specialist grant.
