The Asian Languages and Literature Department at the University of Washington in Seattle is seeking a part-time, temporary lecturer in Khmer for the 2024-2025 academic year (mid-December to mid-June). The possibility of renewal after the 2025-26 academic year is subject to funding availability.
Duties include teaching three courses per quarter at the Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced levels, with the exact mix of courses depending on student interest and enrollment. Specific course offerings will be decided in consultation with faculty in the Department of Asian Languages and Literature and in the Center for Southeast Asia and its Diasporas at the University of Washington.
Applicants are expected to have a high level of proficiency in Khmer, experience teaching the language at the college level, and the creativity, willingness, and ability to adjust course content to meet the needs of interested students.
