POSITION: STUDENT ASSISTANT
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: ON-CAMPUS HOURLY
HOURLY RATE: $25.00 PER HOUR
HOURS: 8-10 HOURS PER WEEK
START DATE: December 15, 2023
The Center for Southeast Asia & its Diasporas in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies seeks a student assistant to support a range of administrative, communications, and event planning tasks. The Center is particularly motivated to hire a graduate student with graphic design, desktop publishing, video editing, and/or event planning experience. The student assistant provides support for publicity and logistics for Center events, and works directly with the Managing Director and Program Coordinator. The employment period will last throughout the 2023-24 academic year, contingent upon satisfactory performance.
Duties Include:
- Maintaining and updating newsletters, website, and social media content
- Composing and editing blogs, interviews, and online news posts
- Creating posters and publicity materials for online and print distribution
- Assisting with event support and logistics
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, self-motivation, and ability to work independently
- Facility with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, or any basic graphic design or publishing software
- Experience with social media, marketing and/or event planning
- Experience with Asana or similar project management platform
