The Center for Southeast Asia and Its Diasporas in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington invites applications for the MA in Southeast Asian Studies program. Located in beautiful Seattle, the University of Washington is one of the premier intellectual and pedagogical hubs for the study of Southeast Asia in North America.

As a graduate student, you will join a thriving intellectual community. Both inside and outside of the classroom, we strive to foster a sense of collegiality, friendliness, and shared purpose.

The breadth of faculty expertise allows students to learn in an environment that exemplifies the benefits of interdisciplinary scholarship. Our faculty have strengths in history, anthropology, ethnomusicology, archaeology, ethnic studies, the medical humanities, languages and literature, environmental studies, marine affairs and more. Our unique program allows you to study Southeast Asian America as well as Southeast Asia. Our faculty teach about all the eleven countries of Southeast Asia and well as the global Southeast Asian diaspora.

Interested in Global Health? Going to Law School? We offer concurrent degrees with six professional programs: Public Affairs, Business Administration, Law, Forest Resources, Marine Affairs, and Public Health.

Language courses in Indonesian, Khmer, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Burmese, and Thai.
