Works in Progress: Africanist Scholarship in Challenging Times – Graduate student symposium

June 15, 2021

The African Studies program finished the 2020-2021 academic year with an amazing 1-day symposium organized by Jackson School Ph.D. candidate Francis Abugbilla and Communications Ph.D. student Meagan Doll.  Panels featured current “works-in-progress” from Africanist graduate students around campus at different stages of the Ph.D. process.  Given the challenges of research under current conditions, the symposium provided an opportunity for students from International Studies, Communications, Political Science, Law, and English to discuss strategies for research design, fieldwork and writing Africa-centric scholarship today.
