UW News has posted a release today on “The Maple Cutter,” a documentary by African Studies faculty Danny Hoffman (JSIS) and Lynn M. Thomas (History) The documentary tells the story of Justin Wilke, who was accused of starting a wildfire while illegally removing trees from the Olympic National Forest.

The film was screened last week at the UW. *A second screening* at the UW is under consideration – details TBD.
The documentary is part of the Unthinkable Film series, sponsored by the Simpson Center for the Humanities, which gathers UW faculty members “to develop short documentary films that speak and theorize on our planet’s cataclysmic, unpredictable or unprecedented future.”
