In late January, the Department of Scandinavian Studies and the Jackson School for International Studies hosted Dr. Markku Jokisipilä, a Professor of Contemporary History and Director of the Center for Parliamentary Studies at the University of Turku. Dr. Jokisipilä visited several UW classrooms and shared lessons from Finland’s experience in WWII as well as from his more recent research into the rise of national populism in Finland. In his public lecture, Dr. Jokisipilä examined how national populism in Finland differs from national populism in other countries.
