Renovation of the Tateuchi East Asia Library (TEAL) in Gowen Hall is greatly anticipated. Here is the timeline for access to materials during closer.
APRIL 15 – JUNE 10, 2022
Between April 15 and June 10, users can check out books from TEAL reference collection to use during TEAL closure. Beginning March 21, current issues of periodicals will be process and sent for binding and will be unavailable. Please use online resources and Interlibrary Loan to access current issues of periodicals. If you anticipate needing any other items from the TEAL reading room, please check them out before June. Faculty needing TEAL reference books for their spring quarter classes should contact the TEAL Circulation Desk at 206-543-4490 or via email at uwlib-ealcirc@uw.edu before April 15th. This will enable us to make sure that the reference titles you need are not checked out.
During TEAL’s closure, material not shelved in the reading room will be available for request and picking up at other campus libraries. Faculty can also request delivery via campus mail to their offices. TEAL will not offer summer or fall course reserves, nor will there be any new book displays onsite or online.
JUNE 11 – AQ22
The library will close to the public for construction starting June 11, 2022, through summer, with plans to reopen completely at the start of autumn quarter 2022. During the closure all material in the TEAL reading-room will be inaccessible. This material includes the reference collection, the circulating collection in the call number range A-BL2765, and current periodicals. TEAL reference and consultation services will be online only during closure. Interlibrary loan and other services offered by the UW Libraries will continue. Please check the Libraries website for hours and other updates. Please contact subject librarians or the TEAL Circulation Desk (206-543-4490 or uwlib-ealcirc@uw.edu) with any questions.
