Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) offers funding opportunities for international students who are looking to experience studying at a college or university in Japan. This is a great opportunity for UW students who are interested in experiencing Japanese culture firsthand. The application process for the MEXT 2027 Scholarship is managed by the Consulate-General of Japan in Seattle and is open to students who are U.S. Citizens of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, and Washington State. Applications are due by Friday, May 29, 2026.
