Peter Jackson was an independent writer based in Seattle, and was a leading force behind the formation of the UW Center for Human Rights in 2009. He served as the editorial page editor for the Everett Herald from 2012 – 2014. Peter also served as a speechwriter for governors Christine Gregoire and Gary Locke. Known as a conservation advocate and community voice throughout the Pacific Northwest, Peter was the first President of the Center’s Advisory Board. He was the son of the late Sen. Henry M. “Scoop” Jackson and Mrs. Helen Jackson.
