About

Olivia Viale is a third-year undergraduate student studying American Ethnic Studies and International Studies. Focusing on Latin America and the Caribbean, she values connecting migrant experiences with issues politicized as “Latine/x” or “Black” in the U.S. and prioritizing immigrant justice as racial justice. Viale grounds histories of migrant families with agency despite the systemic barriers to establishing belonging. She aims to connect migrant studies and ethnic studies, as peopled and fundamentally linked disciplines. Additionally, Olivia enjoys live music in the Seattle area, studying in cafes, and going on nature walks.
