Nora VanRees

About
Nora VanRees is a senior double-majoring in law, societies, and justice, and international studies, and minoring in Latin American and Caribbean studies. Nora is passionate about advocating for human rights through rigorous social science research. At UWCHR Nora is a human rights research fellow working with Dr. Theresa Rocha Beardall on the Puyallup Family Data Reclamation Project to digitize and return Indian boarding school records to survivors and their descendants. Separate from her work with UWCHR, Nora works on issues related to police violence, uncovering officer misconduct while further theorizing policing as protected violence work. These projects collectively fuel her passion for using social science research as a vehicle for change. Nora plans to get her Master’s in International Studies at the Jackson School to prepare for a career in human rights law.
