Elijah Tuncap

About
Elijah Tuncap is a third-year undergraduate student in the Law, Societies, and Justice department. His academic focus centers around criminal justice, specifically restorative and rehabilitative approaches as alternatives to western ideas of punishment. Elijah is currently working with the Ready to Release Initiative, researching factors that limit access to rehabilitative programming for individuals serving long-term sentences for crimes committed as juveniles. Driven by experience studying restorative practice in New Zealand, and working in education and social services here in Washington State, he seeks to disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline and help young people avoid the carceral system. In his free time, Elijah enjoys making music, playing basketball, and working out.
