The above charts illustrate the declining number of ICE encounters and arrests associated with selected local city and county jails in Washington state over recent years. While rates of arrests at these “landmarks” were already in decline prior to the passage of KWW in May 2019 (represented by the black dashed line), implementation of the law appears to be associated with further reductions of both encounters and arrests to near zero by U.S. Fiscal Year 2022 in each of these jurisdictions.
