Born in the West Bank, Majd came to this country for college and to pursue her interest in international affairs. After several years’ experience working for non-profits and in higher education, Majd joined the MAAIS program as a member of the 2015-2016 cohort. Her capstone applied research project involved working with Starbucks and she was able to leverage that experience and her interest in the company to be hired as a Global Social Impact Fellow once she graduated. Today, Majd heads up Starbucks’ refugee hiring in the United States as Senior Global Responsibility Specialist. She credits the diversity of the MAAIS cohort and the multidisciplinary focus of its curriculum for expanding her world view and helping her make a successful transition into the private sector.
