On a breezy summer evening, the M.A. in Applied International Studies Class of 2017 toasted the end of an era. Families and friends joined in the revelry on board the Olympic Star, which took students on one final lap around Lake Washington before they headed out to change the world. Professor Kristian Coates Ulrichsen, nominated by the class to speak on behalf of MAAIS faculty, congratulated the cohort on their strong academic performance and the teamwork and camaraderie they displayed throughout the year. Student speaker Kevin McGuinness spoke fondly of the close bonds the class had formed during the intense ten month experience. He reminded his classmates that the support network they had built would continue to serve them well into the future, and encouraged everyone to call on one another for help as they moved onto new professional endeavors. Additional photos from the event may be found on the MAAIS Facebook page.
NEW WINTER START: The MAAIS program is accepting applications now for a new “winter start” option. Students will begin the program in January 2018 and graduate in December 2018.
